The Interregional Cooperation Programme INTERREG IVC, financed by the European Union’s Regional Development Fund, helps Regions of Europe work together to share experience and good practice in the areas of innovation, the knowledge economy, the environment and risk prevention. EUR 302 million is available for project funding but, more than that, a wealth of knowledge and potential solutions are also on hand for regional policy-makers.

Abruzzo Sviluppo - Abruzzo Region Development Agency (I)

Abruzzo Sviluppo - Abruzzo Region Development Agency can be found in the centre of Italy, east of Rome, in Abruzzo province. Its mission is to contribute to the economic development of the region. Thus it supports the development of relationships between the public and private sector at local, regional, national and international levels in order to promote initiatives and enhance coherent regional development.

The ceramic handicraft in Abruzzo is characterized by extreme vitality and variety of products that include both the artistic majolica and pottery terracotta. It is the result of age-old skills constituted of many different activities which are the expression of this land. Goldsmith's art, with typical Scanno presentosa and Castelli pottery lead the way along with wrought iron, fabrics, needlework, Taranta Peligna polychrome tapestries, lace, pillow lace and much more. Abruzzo’s handicraft plays a leading role in developing tourism in the area and thus represents an important part in creating regional wealth.

 In line with CeRamICa’s objectives, Abruzzo Sviluppo aims to achieve recognition by the regional government that traditional crafts are a treasure of the region itself, so its main objective through participation in the project is to strengthen the regional development through promotion of traditional crafts.
